Apple kicked off WWDC with the announcement of the Vision Pro 2, a comprehensive second-generation upgrade that addresses many criticisms of the original — including weight, battery life and limited apps.
Hardware Upgrades
The new headset features Apple's M4 Ultra chip capable of performing 38 trillion operations per second, paired with dual 8K micro-OLED displays at 120Hz. Weight has been reduced to 420 grams from 600 grams, and battery life extended to five hours.
New Software
The device ships with visionOS 3, introducing Spatial Collaboration — allowing up to 12 users to share a persistent virtual workspace. Apple also announced 4,000+ apps at launch including native Adobe Creative Suite.
The Vision Pro 2 starts at $3,499 — a $1,000 reduction from its predecessor. Pre-orders open next Friday.

The international dimension of this story is underappreciated in domestic media. Glad to see a publication treating this as the global issue it actually is.
We discussed this in my university seminar this week. The article generated more genuine debate than anything else we've read this semester. Points on both sides.
Fantastic reporting. I've subscribed to the newsletter specifically because of articles like this. Keep up the excellent work.
My daughter works in exactly this field and has been describing exactly these dynamics for months. It's validating to see it covered at this level of detail.
The statistics cited here are genuinely alarming. I work in the field and can confirm the trends described match what we're seeing on the ground. Thank you for bringing this to a wider audience.
Interesting piece but I feel the article undersells the counterarguments from the opposing side. Paragraph 4 gives them one sentence when they arguably deserve more space.
